Session 1: Wednesday, July 13, 2022, 10am - 11:30am Ch 4: Activating Students’ Assets and Cultural Capital Ch 9: Preparing Culturally Responsive Authentic Assessments
Session Goals: ● Define cultural capital as it pertains to K-12 students ● Explore strengths-based approaches to teaching information literacy ● Develop myriad information literacy authentic assessment ideas
Session Description: There are many components of teaching students information literacy that can be reimagined to leverage their strengths, while providing diverse opportunities for students to demonstrate their knowledge. In this interactive 90-minute session, school librarians will be able to build their capacity to draw on students’ assets and cultural capital, and co-construct authentic assessments related to demonstrating understanding of information literacy. |
